What *does* the police department do?

policeCitizens Academy invites residents to be a part of its next academy. The 10-week program begins Feb. 26 and will meet on Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the Clover Hill Police Facility, 2730 Hicks Road.

The academy is an excellent opportunity for citizens to learn about the daily operations of their police department. It provides a foundation for citizens and police to come together to make Chesterfield County a safe place to live and work. Officers and detectives lead classes in crime prevention, forensics, investigations, emergency communications, criminal and traffic law, special response teams and the work of the K-9 Section officers and their dogs.

The program is free to citizens 18 years or older, who reside, work or own a business, or belong to a civic organization in Chesterfield County. Class size is limited to 25 students. Registration is required by Jan. 31. Applications may be downloaded at www.chesterfield.gov/PublicSafety/Police/cit_academy.asp. For more information, please call Crime Prevention Off. David Zeheb at 318-8692 or e-mail Zehebd@chesterfield.gov.
