Motorists can expect heavy traffic near the Chester Village Green area on Sunday, Dec. 9, in preparation for the Chester Christmas parade. Citizens can expect an increase in traffic beginning at noon and are advised of the following instructions and road closures.

• The parade procession will travel west on Route 10 from the Chester YMCA to Chester Village Green Drive.
• Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Centralia Road, Route 288, and Route 1.
• At 1:30 p.m. Route 10 will be closed from Harrowgate Road to Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. Highway 1).
• All lanes of Route 10 are expected to reopen by 4 p.m.
