County Health Dept offering flu shots

The Chesterfield County Health Department will hold a flu-vaccination clinic for adults 19 and older Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2-7 p.m.

The clinic, which will be by appointment only, will be held in the multipurpose room of the Smith-Wagner Building, 9501 Lucy Corr Circle.

Appointments can be made by calling the Health Department at 768-7499.

The cost of the vaccination is $30. Medicare Part B will be billed. Please bring your Medicare Part B insurance card to the clinic.

Influenza vaccinations for children are given on a walk-in basis through the Health Department’s regular childhood immunization clinics held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; and on Thursdays, 9-11 a.m. and 1-6 p.m., except during the first Thursday morning of each month.

Staph infections spread at James River High School

Apparently back in August a kid from the JV football team had a staph infection and now two new cases have popped up and they are now taking preventative measures to stop the spread. MRSA a drug-resistant staph that can spread quickly was the cause of death of a Bedford County high school student on Monday. (more…)

New cancer treatment center

CJW is starting their 29.6 billion dollar cancer hospital project tomorrow. This 51,000 sq/ft hospital is set to finish in 2009 and help in treating 2000 patients a year. (Referenced RTD)
