Staph infections spread at James River High School

Apparently back in August a kid from the JV football team had a staph infection and now two new cases have popped up and they are now taking preventative measures to stop the spread. MRSA a drug-resistant staph that can spread quickly was the cause of death of a Bedford County high school student on Monday. According to the RTD and WAVY of Portsmouth, VA, Doug Bachman, the activities director at James River, states “We have our locker room cleaned each day by our custodial staff. All the showers are sanitized, the towels are washed as part of our preventative maintenance. All students are encouraged to not share clothes and towels with anybody. They are required to take their practice clothes home each day to get washed”

  1. I feel bad for that student. I find it odd that now, all of a sudden, Staph seems to be popping up all over the place.
