This skatepark was made for skaters, by skaters. Helmets are the only thing required and most pro parks require that. Fees are cheap at this park and only enforced to raise money to build the rest of the park. The park plans on doing special free days throughout the summer. The park is owned by XZone and co-sponsored with chesterfield county. XZone leases space from a church, but does not try to convert kdis to anything. It is a safe place for kids to go skate without being harassed. Check it out before you bag it.

Andrew - Parents actually do have to sign waivers for their kids to play soccer or other sport (ymca, chesterfield, mysl). And yes, it is sad to see the YMCA skate park rotting away. However, 1. it probably is good that folks enforce the protection rules. 2. The insurance that folks like the YMCA and LifeSpring have to pay in order to have a skate park is extremely high. -- So if they didn't enforce those rules -- then they probably wouldn't be able to get the insurance needed to have the skate park in operation.

Cool, another place nobody will go to because of silly hours, pad rules (it's like telling a swimmer to wear floaties), possible cost (they don't charge basketball players), and people that have no idea about skateboarding trying to convert kids to jesus. Ymca took 50,000 dollars of tax payers money and another 50,000 dollars of well intentioned business owners money, to boost their ymca image. Ymca costs 10 dollars every time you go plus membership fees. And they make you wear tutus. The park on hull st is just sitting there rotting away because nobody can afford it and skateboarders don't wear pads or like "supervisors". It's so sad, so wasteful. Skateboaring isn't just for little kids. Why can't there just be a simple park where people aren't treated like babies? Do people have to sign waivers and wear ankle braces to play soccer? Should we start wearing helmets to drive cars? How is skateboarding any more "extreme" then any other activity? No more skate prisons!
