Insurance Scams in Chesterfield?

Chesterfield County has received a report from a resident who was contacted by someone claiming to be a Chesterfield County employee offering to come to the resident’s house to discuss a Medicare plan with her. She declined and contacted Chesterfield County to verify the caller’s claims. Chesterfield County employees do not initiate calls to residents to discuss Medicare or any other insurance plans with them. Should you receive a call from someone posing as a Chesterfield County employee offering information on Medicare or insurance, do not provide any personal information or agree to meet with them. Contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at the non-emergency number, (804) 748-1251, to file a report. The Virginia Bureau of Insurance also recommends contacting them to report any calls, as insurance companies are not allowed to cold-call people. The Virginia Bureau of Insurance can be reached at 1-800-552-7945.
