Chesterfield County implements mandatory water restrictions
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA—Due to severe drought conditions, the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors approved a declaration of mandatory water-use restrictions at their Oct. 10 meeting. These restrictions will take effect on Monday, Oct. 15.
The biggest water use in the county is attributable to lawn-irrigation systems. The ordinance for mandatory restrictions on use of public water requires that lawn watering be done only three times per week. This is sufficient to maintain healthy lawns and gardens, according to Chesterfield County Cooperative Extension. Users of the public water system shall limit their use of public water as follows:
Established landscapes and gardens
Monday – no watering.
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – odd addresses water
Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – even addresses water (odd/even determined by the last digit of address number)
Watering by bucket (five gallon maximum) any time
New landscape
Unrestricted for the first 10 days after planting, then limited to the established landscapes and gardens measures
Vegetable gardens
Limit to any two days per week and,
8 p.m.-10 a.m., any day
Watering by bucket unrestricted
Paved-area washing (streets, drives, patios, walks, etc.)
Limit to two days per week, but unrestricted for immediate health and safety concerns
Vehicle washing (commercial businesses exempt)
Limit to two days per week using a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle
Golf courses (greens exempt)
Limit to 8 p.m.-10 a.m. any day.
Swimming Pools
Limited to filling required to maintain health and safety
Fountains
Limit to any two days per week and from 8 p.m.-10 a.m. on any day.
Businesses
Limit to essential uses
Restaurants
No restrictions
All Other Consumption
Conservation by any means encouraged

With all of the recent drought issues, I am concerned that once all of the residents near River Rd are connected to public water, the low water levels in the River are only going to get worse.
is washing of cars permitted
I don’t think washing cars would be permitted. I mean — that’s kind of unnecessary use of water?
There are some new updates
And as for vehicle washing:
(d) Vehicle washing — Noncommercial washing is limited to one day per week using only hoses with automatic shut-off nozzles. Commercial vehicle-washing businesses are permitted to operate under normal conditions.
