Alert – Jury Duty Scam
The Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office is warning people about a new scam that has hit our area. The Jury Duty Scam. The scammers posing as court employees call you saying you have missed Jury Duty and that a warrant for your arrest has been sent. To clear things up the Scammers ask for your Social Security Number and Date of Birth.
Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney, Matt Geary states: “They will never ask for a full social and will never ask for your date of birth.” Geary also states that communication regarding Jury Duty is done by official mail not by phone.
Would you fall for this?? As Scams go I may fall for this – I never check my mail – so I could probably be hit of guard thinking I did in fact miss Jury Duty.
