895 Toll Increases to $2.50

Money, Dollar SignWow. I thought that the toll should go down as the road gets paid off… I guess I’m wrong. Especially since next year the toll road could go up another 25 cents to $2.75.

According to the RTD:

Most likely, that increase will coincide with the anticipated opening of a new road into Richmond International Airport in late 2010, said Andi Kuhn, a spokeswoman for Transurban, which manages and operates the 8.8-mile Pocahontas 895.

The 1.6-mile connector road, scheduled to start construction later this year, also could have a $1 toll.

  1. Does anyone use this road ever?

  2. I’ve used it once. I don’t think it really saved that much time when trying to get to 64 east from the southside.

  3. I seriously only use it when I go to the airport. Maybe that’s why the toll is going up?

  4. I always use this road when I’m going to the airport or anywhere along 64 East, it does save time and it’s such a nice drive compared to 64 East in the city. I’ve always thought they’re raising the toll because no one uses it, but to me that seems counterproductive… people don’t use it BECAUSE it costs so much. Sad.

  5. Using 895 would save me time and stress compared to using the 64 and 95 parking lot. I am not using 895 because of the high tolls…..$1,200 per year is too high.
