Pet Owner Charged

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Patti J. Wheeler, 52, of the 4500 block of Treely Road has been charged with four counts of animal cruelty, three counts of failure to dispose of dead companion animals, failure to obtain a kennel license and destruction of property. The charges stem from the removal of more than 50 cats and four dogs from the Treely Road residence on May 14.

Wheeler is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court at 11 a.m. today.

Man Arrested For Contributing To The Delinquency Of A Minor

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – A man has been arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors.

William Tanis, 49, of the 4000 block of Tracker Drive, is charged with five counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors. William Tanis is the girl’s softball coach for Crenshaw Athletic Association. He was released on an unsecured bond pending a hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court.

Guiding Good Choices Is Topic Of Parenting Course

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Prevention Services will offer the Guiding Good Choices course for parents of middle schoolers starting June 30. The course will teach parents how to strengthen family bonds, set clear family positions on drugs, teach children skills they need to make healthy choices, and increase children’s involvement in the family.

Classes will be held weekly, 6:30-8 p.m., through July 28 at Midlothian Library, 521 Coalfield Road. All classes will be Tuesdays, with the exception of one class Monday, July 13. The fee is $50, and fee assistance is available. The course is being offered in partnership with Substance Abuse Free Environment Inc., or SAFE.
