Police have investigated 233 reports in which items were stolen from victims’ vehicles from Jan. 1- Feb. 24. These thefts occurred at businesses and homes throughout the county.

Nine victims discovered their vehicle windows had been smashed to gain entry to locked vehicles in parking lots at T.G.I. Friday’s in the 13100 block of Rittenhouse Drive and Buffalo Wild Wings in the 12000 block of Southshore Pointe Drive between 10-11:30 p.m. on Feb. 12. Stolen items included laptops, cash, iPods, clothing, pool cues and a backpack.

Most residential victims left their vehicles unlocked in their driveways or in front of their homes. Police said any and all items left in unlocked vehicles become easy prey whether victims are running errands, shopping, having dinner at area restaurants or at home.

Lock your vehicle every time

Park in well-lit, traveled areas when shopping or visiting area restaurants

Keep home exterior lights on from dusk until dawn
