The Chesterfield County Virginia Cooperative Extension office is offering two workshops this spring to assist county residents. The first, Home Management — Housekeeping, will be held in two sessions on Wednesday, April 23, and Wednesday, April 30, 9:30 a.m.-noon. Participants will be provided instruction in acquiring or improving basic skills and competencies in maintaining their homes. A certificate for home management will be issued to those completing both sessions.

It may not look like much from the outside, but a trip to Angelos Italian Restaurant is a real treat for your senses. When you walk in the door, the first thing you can smell is the pizza (and they’re known for it.) Or is the garlic from the spaghetti filling my nostrils? Whatever it is, its good enough to make your mouth water the second you get there. Looking around the room, you see servers rushing about, guests happily filling their bellies and late diners jealously eyeing the filled booths waiting for their turn to eat. (more…)
Many low-to-moderate income working families and individuals in the county qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). An EITC credit can amount to an income tax refund of up to $4,716. Free tax preparation is available for those who qualify for the EITC.

A shotgun was found near the home of the suspect believed to be involved in the slaying on Tuesday. This guy I guess didn’t think they would find it in the wooded area near his house.

Police announced a significant arrest in their continued efforts to identify and quash incidents of underage drinking at parties and other events throughout the county.
Just after midnight on March 29, police responded to the 6500 block of Woodlake Village Court in the Woodlake Village Apartments, where a large party was under way. Police observed more than two dozen individuals in the residence and extensive evidence of alcohol being consumed.

April has been designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, an opportunity to focus awareness of sexual violence and prevention. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge agencies that provide services to victims of sexual violence. Sexual violence is defined as any sexual act that results in physical and psychological trauma and injury. It can be verbal, physical or psychological. Sexual assault and rape are crimes of violence and control, using sex acts as a weapon.
