In Review: Cafe Caturra

Well, they got the atmosphere right… You walk into the stand alone building in the town of Midlothian, and immediately are drawn in by the aroma of coffee beans, and the crackling of a real wood fire. It’s charming really, with original artwork covering the walls and big cushy leather chairs near the hearth, this seems like the perfect place to curl up and spend a chilly afternoon. There’s just one problem… the price! I wasn’t very hungry the day we went, and thus asked to try the café’s meat and cheese plate. Thankfully I asked the price, because my little nibble could have cost me a whopping $18 dollars. I opted to just sip on a glass of wine ($9) and share some of my husband’s $9 curried chicken wrap. Our friends had their little boy with them, and ordered a child’s grilled cheese for $6.

Reminder: New tolls and traffic pattern on powhite

This past weekend they tore down the toll booths and opened the new ones going southbound on Powhite Parkway. From what I could see coming into work today, you have to merge down to two lanes before it opens up to the new toll booth. Looks like it could get worse before it gets better.

The express lanes/high speed lanes won’t open until late summer. Just allow yourself some extra time getting home for the next … well, couple months.
