Do you know Francisco Antonio Mendez-Chavez?

Well, if you do then you should turn him in. He’s has been identified as being in connection with the sexual assault of a 4-year old girl.

Police also have an older warrant for Chavez’s arrest on a charge of having carnal knowledge of a young teenage girl. That stems from a case in 2005.

Chavez was described as 5-foot-4 and 160 pounds. He is also known as “Paco,” police said. Anyone with information about his whereabouts can call Chesterfield County police at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

Chesterfield Christmas Lights

Tonight I drove around just our neighborhood with the little ones to enjoy the Christmas lights (our neighborhood only has one that is really top-notch at 4303 Allworthy Lane). I’ve known that the Richmond area is widely known for its tacky lights, but what about in Chesterfield? It seems all the ones I hear about are in the West End. I did however find a “Classy Lights Tour” site that provided map listings fairly well for Chesterfield and any other area of the country - check out our area map.

Do you enjoy the lights? I was surprised to find myself enjoying it like I used to when I was a kid.

Police investigate robbery

Police are investigating a case in which a woman was abducted and robbed at gunpoint in the 11900 block of West Briar Patch Drive at about 10:10 p.m. on Dec. 17.

Police said the woman was approached by a man after she knocked on a neighbor’s door. The suspect ordered her back into her vehicle at gunpoint and a second man got into the vehicle. Both men demanded the victim drive to an ATM to withdraw money. Once the suspects received the money, they ordered the woman to drive back to the apartment complex. The suspects forced the victim out of the vehicle and fled in her vehicle. The woman was not harmed, and her vehicle was recovered soon after the incident.

One suspect is 5 feet 10 inches tall and wore a bandana to conceal his face. He also wore dark clothes and a blue and black ski hat.

Weekend!

What to do in Chesterfield this weekend?

Get some Gas - add some $$ to the Smart Tag and head across the River to enjoy some of the events happening in Richmond.

- A Family Favorite: The James Center (map) and don’t forget the Horse Carriage Ride. (I would say bring some Hot Chocolate - but with this weather - you may not need it.)

- Holiday Card Photo Spot — Still need a good family picture for your Christmas card. Go to the Jefferson Hotel - It’s FREE to walk in (not FREE to stay). But they go all out on decorations and it’s a great spot to take some pictures of the kids.

- Ice Skating — New this year at the Science Museum. Is it really ice??

We have many more places to go around town. From going on the tacky light tour or driving through the Garden Festival of Lights at Lewis Ginter.

But hey!! - We want to know — What do you do???

Alert - Jury Duty Scam

The Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office is warning people about a new scam that has hit our area. The Jury Duty Scam. The scammers posing as court employees call you saying you have missed Jury Duty and that a warrant for your arrest has been sent. To clear things up the Scammers ask for your Social Security Number and Date of Birth.

Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney, Matt Geary states: “They will never ask for a full social and will never ask for your date of birth.” Geary also states that communication regarding Jury Duty is done by official mail not by phone.
