Deerhurst Drive will be closed from Olde Coalmine Road to Sandbag Road, and Unison Drive will be closed at Sandbag Road to replace a water line. The work is scheduled to begin today at 9 a.m. and last until approximately 4 p.m.
Traffic will be detoured around the work zone and only residents will be allowed access to their homes.

The Chesterfield County Health Department will hold a flu-vaccination clinic for adults 19 and older Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2-7 p.m.
The clinic, which will be by appointment only, will be held in the multipurpose room of the Smith-Wagner Building, 9501 Lucy Corr Circle.
Appointments can be made by calling the Health Department at 768-7499.
The cost of the vaccination is $30. Medicare Part B will be billed. Please bring your Medicare Part B insurance card to the clinic.
Influenza vaccinations for children are given on a walk-in basis through the Health Department’s regular childhood immunization clinics held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; and on Thursdays, 9-11 a.m. and 1-6 p.m., except during the first Thursday morning of each month.

Who would want a cell phone tower built at their kids school? Built it at the local Fire house — Chesterfield Fire Department could certainly use the money from renting the land to Ntelos. Or how about on Church property?
Well that sounds like a smart idea, I don’t know why parents are having a hard time with this! Kind of like placing alcohol in front of an alcoholic or handing cigarettes to a recent nicotine addict — not a good idea. It may no be against the law for him to live there but surely we can just move the bus stop, right?

My wife just asked me yesterday about when the bridge would finally be completed. Just when I decided to check on it, the RTD, printed the answer! VDOT says it should be done sometime in Mid-December. It’s taking so long because of an accident that happened where part of the bridge needed to be replaced. In order to replace it you have to have a made to order piece of concrete.
“These sections, whether poured off site or in place, still have to cure to provide adequate strength,” Jarman said. “As soon as the sections are complete and delivered, they will be put in place.”

The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed one man. The crash occurred at the intersection of Lucks Lane and Abingdon Road at about 7:35 a.m. today.
Police said a 1998 Jeep Cherokee traveling west on Lucks Lane veered into the path of a 2000 Ford Ranger traveling east. Both drivers were transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ranger, Norman G. Powell, 84, of the 1500 block of Abingdon Road, died as a result of his injuries.
Police continue their investigation into this crash.
A man was arrested today in connection with a series of bomb threats to schools, the Chesterfield County Airport and Chesterfield Towne Center. (more…)
