Road Closings & Repairs

Going to work:
The right and center lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 will be closed from just west of the Pouncey Tract Road bridge (mile marker 176) to Broad Street (mile marker 178) nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Nov. 27 - Nov. 30, in order to install beams for the new bridge.

Expect major delays because there will only be one lane open.

In Chesterfield:
One lane of Chesterfield Avenue, between Light and Lee streets will be closed until 4 p.m. today to repair the asphalt. Traffic will be alternated through the work area.

Having low water pressure?

The Chesterfield County Department of Utilities will be notifying customers in the Physic Hill area of Chesterfield County this week about scheduled water-tank maintenance. The work on the tank may result in lower-than-usual water pressure Dec. 4-13.

Chesterfield and those Illegal Immigrants

Interesting to learn that Chesterfield county is reimbursed for jailing Illegal Immigrants. Since 2004 Chesterfield has received $317,063 from the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program. (Read more at RTD)

Join Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation for a holiday social for seniors, Friday, Dec. 14, 7-9 p.m, at the Bensley Community Building, 2900 Drewry’s Bluff Road, Richmond. BIRDS! BIRDS!

The vultures that have been terrorizing vehicles at Dutch Gap boat landing, as well as messing with Dominion Virginia Power - chesterfield power station, are still hanging around. Today started the first of a two week plan to scatter the birds by using non-lethal harassment practices.

Chesterfield Art Teacher Dies

Jeffrey Leonard Fetta, 59, died on Wednesday from a pulmonary embolism. He taught at Manchester Middle School and has been there since 1992.

AT&T now provides 3G network services in the Greater Richmond area

RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AT&T Inc. has announced a change in how, when and where people access the Internet, use e-mail or view a variety of entertainment services by offering third-generation (3G) wireless broadband mobile services in Richmond and Hampton Roads. With the addition of 367 3G cell sites, AT&T now provides 3G network services in the Greater Richmond area, including Richmond, Richmond International Airport, Henrico County, Glen Allen, Mechanicsville, Sandston, Chesterfield County, Chester, Colonial Heights, Hopewell and Petersburg. The company also launched the 3G network in the Hampton Roads area, including Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Gloucester and Norfolk International Airport.

Homicide Investigated

At approximately 9 p.m. on Nov. 17, police responded to the 7100 block of Wentworth Street for a report of a gunshot from inside an apartment. Once inside the residence, police found a victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police are withholding the name of the victim until notification of next of kin.

Police remain on scene as they continue their investigation and they are looking for a green, Isuzu Trooper seen leaving the area at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call the Chesterfield County Police Department at (804) 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at (804) 748-0660.
